The 2004 Federal Budget identified additional funding of $5 million a year, starting in 2005-2006 to support the creation of a new NCE Research Network on bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE) and other transmissible spongiform encephalopathies (TSE).
One Letter of Intent was received and reviewed by the NCE BSE/TSE International Expert Panel.
Based on the recommendations from the Expert Panel, the NCE Steering Committee invited the group to submit a Full Application by the deadline of September 6, 2005. The NCE BSE/TSE International Expert Panel met again to evaluate the Full Application. The new Network funded was PrioNet Canada.
